Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara attends the Salvation Ministries in GRA
Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has recently made a public appearance in Port Harcourt after being removed from office due to a political crisis in the state. At the same time, he strongly denied any links to militant groups or attacks on oil and gas facilities in Rivers State.
Fubara Appears in Public for Worship
On Sunday, March 23, 2025, Governor Fubara attended a church service at the Salvation Ministries headquarters in GRA, Port Harcourt. This marked his first public appearance since he was suspended from office following the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu.
The federal government had appointed Ibok-Ete Ibas as the sole administrator of Rivers State, replacing Fubara, his deputy, and the State House of Assembly. The move came after growing political tension and security concerns in the state.
Fubara was seen at the church service with his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, showing that he is still active and present despite the ongoing political situation.
Fubara Speaks Out: No Link to Militants
Shortly after his appearance, Fubara, through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, responded to rumors spreading online. He said he had no connection to any militant group and condemned fake videos that claimed there were explosions or pipeline attacks in the state.
He explained that some people were trying to link the videos to his supporters in an effort to cause fear and tension. However, the local communities where the attacks were said to happen had already confirmed that no such incidents occurred and that all oil and gas facilities were safe.
Fubara said, “I have no reason to support violence or sabotage. My focus is on keeping peace in Rivers State.” He added that peace is necessary for the state to grow and for development to happen.
Fubara also warned bloggers and social media users to stop sharing fake stories that may lead to violence or damage the state's reputation. He urged security agencies to investigate those responsible for spreading these lies and to take proper action.
He stated that some of these false reports had already caused confusion and poor decisions that could harm the people of Rivers State.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara has returned to public view during a church visit, showing that he remains calm and focused despite the political changes in Rivers State. At the same time, he is clearing his name from any criminal allegations, especially rumors connecting him to militant activities.
