UPDF and UAE’s Streit Group open Uganda’s first armored vehicle showroom, boosting defense tech and industrial growth.

Uganda has officially opened its first showroom for armored vehicles, located at Abayita Ababiri along Entebbe Road. This project is part of a joint venture between Uganda’s National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) and the Streit Group, a defense company from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The new facility was launched by the Minister of State for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Oleru Abason, who said the showroom is more than just a place to see vehicles—it’s also a center for sharing knowledge, building partnerships, and promoting economic development.

“This shows our government is serious about working with international partners to create jobs, grow industries, and bring in new technologies,” Hon. Oleru said during the event.

The Chairman of Streit Group, Mr. Guerman Goutorov, also spoke at the launch. He said Uganda must protect its people as it continues to develop. “With all the progress the country is making, it is important to ensure the safety of the people,” he stated, while encouraging Ugandans to visit the showroom and learn more about the armored vehicles on display.

Lt. Gen. James Mugira, who leads NEC, thanked the Streit Group and other stakeholders for supporting this important defense project.

This initiative began in July 2019, when Streit Group and NEC signed a deal to start an armored vehicle production plant in Uganda. That agreement led to the creation of a factory in Nakasongola, which was later launched by President Yoweri Museveni.
