The Uganda Police has introduced a new rule restricting musicians from having large groups with them at events. This announcement was made by Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, during a press conference in Naguru, Kampala, on Monday.

The police believe reducing the number of people accompanying artists will help prevent violence at music events. According to Onyango, only five people can escort a musician.

These must include the artist’s DJ, manager, secretary, treasurer, and one security person.

"We don’t want to see artists moving with groups that cause trouble. From now on, musicians can only have a small team of five people with them," Onyango said. He added that anyone exceeding this limit would be arrested, and the artist must clarify who is allowed.

This decision follows recent violent incidents. On July 1st, groups supporting artists Alien Skin and Pallaso clashed during the Empele Festival at Buloba Forest Park, leading to property damage and injuries. The violence continued days later when Pallaso allegedly attacked Alien Skin's base, causing further destruction.
