As the competition nears its end, Senegal will now face off against Malawi in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament qualifying match that is part of Group L. The players attended the pitch on Friday in preparation for their first match largely since the exit of their resourceful Aliou Cisse who’s contested a master AFCON championship, and two editions of the planet’s WC. Pape Thiaw steps in as the interim head coach, aiming to maintain the team’s enviable status quo.
"I believe that our fans assist us the same way they have in the past. Tomorrow we have a big chance in our patients and fans especially. Everybody knows how difficult it is to compete with Senegal, it is now our duty to make things easy for ourselves in the game,"
said a team spokesperson at a pre-match press conference.
Malawi, who currently occupy the bottom most position in Group L zero points after two losses, also exerted themselves with regards to preparations as they held a training french fries on Friday. The game will be important for Malawi in order to help them stay in contention for the qualifiers.
Senegal comes into the match with one win under their belt in the qualifiers. The next match is not only a test of skills, but also an indication of Thiaw’s capabilities as Senegal is determined to build on its success in the international arena.
