President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had a meeting on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the State Lodge in Nakasero with a White House delegation from the United States. The delegation included notable figures such as Dr. Rollan Roberts, a former US Presidential Candidate; Mr. David Woodruff, a representative from the West Virginia Senate; and Mr. Siljander Mark Deli, a former Congressman and Ambassador. They were also joined by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Anita Among.

During their discussions, they covered various topics including trade, infrastructure development, and other mutual interests between Uganda and the United States. The delegation expressed the new US Administration's commitment to strengthening the ties between the two countries.

President Museveni expressed his gratitude for their visit and emphasized the importance of dialogue in achieving consensus on various issues. He highlighted his vision for Africa's transformation from a traditional economy to a monetized economy and the ultimate goal of a political federation across the continent.

Museveni also mentioned that Uganda is focusing on four major sectors: commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, and ICT. He stressed the necessity of a regional market to support Uganda's economy since the local market is insufficient.

Additionally, Museveni discussed the ongoing efforts to establish the East African Political Federation, which he believes will serve as a pivotal point for the African continent in the future.

The meeting also touched on the need for capacity building in critical areas like trade, democracy, and infrastructure sectors such as health, education, and transportation.

Dr. Roberts supported this approach, indicating a shift towards fundamental infrastructure development that aligns with the views of the Trump administration.

To conclude, the US delegation invited President Museveni to a working visit in the United States later in the year, which he accepted.
