Rogers Mulindwa, the spokesperson for Uganda’s ruling NRM party
Rogers Mulindwa, the spokesperson for Uganda’s ruling NRM party, has accused opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) of being dishonest. He said many of them act like they are against President Museveni’s government in public, but privately ask for money from the same government they attack.
“I don’t trust them,” Mulindwa said. “They speak badly about the government, yet they keep going to the President for financial help.”
This comment comes at a time when people are already questioning the honesty of politicians in Uganda. There have been recent reports that some MPs were secretly given 100 million Ugandan shillings under classified funds. While many opposition MPs have denied taking the money, Mulindwa’s words have made people even more suspicious.

He believes these politicians are not fighting for the country but are only thinking about their own personal gain. According to him, they are not guided by strong beliefs or love for Uganda — they just want to survive politically.
His remarks have caused anger among some opposition members.
They argue that Mulindwa is only trying to distract people from the corruption happening inside the NRM party. However, some Ugandans agree with him, saying they feel betrayed by leaders who promise change but do the opposite in secret.
As Uganda moves toward the 2026 general elections, such accusations could have a big effect on how voters see both the opposition and the ruling party.
