Chameleone denies alcohol caused his illness, says he's recovering from pancreatitis after treatment in the U.S.
Singer Jose Chameleone

Singer Jose Chameleone has told the public that alcohol is not the reason for his health condition, clearing up rumors after months of silence.

Speaking at a press conference shortly after landing back in Uganda, Chameleone confirmed that he has been receiving treatment for pancreatitis, a serious illness that affects the pancreas — an organ behind the stomach that helps with digestion and controlling sugar levels.

He explained that while many people were quick to blame alcohol, his doctors in the U.S. found other causes for his illness. He added that it's unfair for people to judge without knowing the facts.

Chameleone had been in the United States since December last year for medical treatment. His return on Saturday morning, April 12, 2025, turned into an emotional event as hundreds of fans and family members gathered at Entebbe International Airport to welcome him back.

The airport was filled with excitement and support. His parents, Gerald and Prossy Mayanja, were at the front, happy to see their son home. His brother, fellow singer Pallaso, and several other artists also came to show their love and support.

Despite the pain and struggle, Chameleone looked hopeful and ready to bounce back. He thanked everyone who stood by him and promised to focus on recovery and new music.
