President Samia Suluhu Hassan has shared her heartfelt condolences following the death of Mbozi District Commissioner, Ester Alexander Mahawe
DAR ES SALAAM: President Samia Suluhu Hassan has shared her heartfelt condolences following the death of Mbozi District Commissioner, Ester Alexander Mahawe.
Through an Instagram post, the President expressed her sadness over the loss, which occurred on January 14, 2025, at KCMC Hospital in Kilimanjaro Region. She said, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mbozi DC, Ester Mahawe. My condolences go to her family, the Songwe Regional Commissioner, relatives, and friends. May her soul rest in eternal peace.”
President Samia described Mahawe as a dedicated, honest, and hardworking leader who served the public with courage and integrity. “We thank God for Ester’s life and her unwavering commitment to her duties,” she added.
The Minister for State in the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government, Mohamed Mchengerwa, also extended his condolences to the family, regional leaders, and the people of Mbozi District. He noted that the President’s Office, in collaboration with Mahawe’s family, was coordinating funeral arrangements and promised to provide further updates.

Ester Mahawe had a remarkable career in public service. She served as a Member of Parliament for Women’s Special Seats under CCM from 2015 to 2020. In 2021, she was appointed as the District Commissioner for Kigoma and was later transferred to Mbozi District in 2023.
Her death is a significant loss to the Songwe Region and the nation as a whole. Many have remembered her for her strong leadership and dedication to public service.
