Airtel Tanzania has introduced a special nursing room for working mothers
In Dar es Salaam, Airtel Tanzania has introduced a special nursing room for working mothers at its headquarters, marking a step forward in promoting inclusivity at the workplace. This initiative was revealed during the International Women's Day celebrations in 2025.
Airtel Tanzania's Managing Director, Mr. Charles Kamoto, emphasized the importance of this facility, saying it represents the company's dedication to providing a supportive work environment for mothers managing both career and parenting duties. "One of our core values at Airtel Tanzania is to walk the talk.
This nursing room is a reflection of our commitment to supporting women in the workplace, ensuring that Airtel Divas can thrive both professionally and personally without having to choose between work and motherhood,” he stated.
Ms. Stella Kibacha, the Human Resources Director at Airtel Tanzania, pointed out that the nursing room is intended to improve working conditions for mothers, offering them a private and comfortable space to take care of their nursing needs.
"A dedicated space like this allows working mothers to balance their responsibilities with dignity and ease. Supporting nursing mothers contributes to their well-being and enhances productivity,” she noted.
Further supporting the initiative, Ms. Adrianna Lyamba, Airtel Tanzania’s Customer Experience Director, discussed the psychological advantages of the facility. She highlighted how it helps alleviate the challenges faced by mothers in balancing their careers and parenting roles. “Parenthood should never be a barrier to career growth. This nursing room provides psychological peace, enabling working mothers to care for their infants while remaining productive,” she explained.
Mr. Daniel Akuffo, the Supply Chain Director, also spoke about how the nursing room fits into the company’s larger goals of fostering an inclusive and empowering work environment. “A supportive workplace fosters both professional and personal growth. When employees feel valued and supported, they are more engaged and productive, benefiting both individuals and the company,” he remarked.
Overall, the introduction of the nursing room reiterates Airtel Tanzania’s ongoing efforts to build a work environment that supports women in seamlessly integrating their professional ambitions with their roles as parents.
