UEFA has banned English referee David Coote from officiating in European football until June 30, 2026. The decision was confirmed by UEFA on Friday.
Coote was already dismissed by England’s refereeing body last December after a video clip surfaced online, showing him making offensive remarks about former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp.
Additionally, UEFA had been investigating him after another video leaked, allegedly showing him snorting a white substance during Euro 2024.
In its latest disciplinary decision, UEFA’s control, ethics, and disciplinary body confirmed that Coote had been suspended for violating the "basic rules of decent conduct" and damaging the reputation of football and UEFA.
This means he will not be allowed to officiate in any UEFA competitions until mid-2026.
