Ruben Amorim Speaks Out-"I Have Many Problems" at Man United
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim under pressure after another defeat.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that he is facing many challenges in his job after suffering another defeat in the English Premier League.
On Sunday, February 16, 2024, Manchester United lost 1-0 against Tottenham Hotspur, leaving them in 15th place in the league table. This was Amorim’s eighth defeat in 12 games, increasing the pressure on him to finish the season in a better position.
Right now, Manchester United is struggling with 12 injured players, forcing Amorim to rely on young academy players to fill the squad.
When asked by Sky Sports about his situation, Amorim admitted:
"I have many problems, my job is very difficult, but I am trying to do my best next week and see if I can win again."
Fans were surprised that Amorim did not make any substitutions except in added time (90+1 minute), when he replaced Casemiro with 17-year-old Chidozie Obi.
He explained that he still had faith in his players:
"This is the toughest league in the world. I looked at my players and believed they could score, so I did not make changes. But they will play. I am here to help my players. I know the difficult situation I am in, but I believe I will win again. Right now, I am not worried about myself but about our position in the table."
Manchester United is currently 15th with 29 points and will play Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Amorim has now lost 12 out of 25 games, won 8, and drawn 5. The last time Manchester United performed this poorly was in the 1973/74 season, when they were relegated to the second division.
