Victor Osimhen’s anticipated transfer from Napoli to Chelsea has officially failed after negotiations broke down between the two clubs. The 26-year-old Nigerian striker had been linked with a move to the Premier League despite interest from Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the collapse of the deal, tweeting:

“Deal completely off for Victor Osimhen. No agreement with Chelsea, and the #CFC delegation is now leaving Napoli. If nothing happens from Saudi in the next three days, Osimhen will stay at Napoli but won’t be part of the first-team squad. Relationship currently completely broken.”

Sky Sport Italia reports that Osimhen rejected Chelsea’s offer of €4 million per season, significantly lower than his current €10 million annual salary at Napoli. The striker also found the Blues’ proposed bonus system, which included an additional €2 million for Champions League qualification and appearances, insufficient.

Osimhen’s future remains uncertain, with his relationship with Napoli coach Antonio Conte reportedly strained. The club is reluctant to pay his substantial salary if he is not part of the first-team squad, leaving the striker in a precarious position. While there is still a slim chance of a last-minute transfer to Saudi Arabia before their transfer window closes on September 2, the possibility of such a move seems increasingly unlikely.
