Former Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo would have scored more goals than Erling Haaland if he were playing in the current Manchester City side. Solskjaer believes that the Portuguese forward, despite his age, remains capable of dominating world football.
Speaking at the Oslo Business Forum, Solskjaer reflected on Ronaldo's return to Manchester United and its impact on the squad. He acknowledged that bringing a global superstar like Ronaldo back to Old Trafford might have disrupted the team’s dynamic.
"He’d probably score more than Erling Haaland is doing at the moment for Manchester City,"
Solskjaer remarked, adding,
"When Cristiano returned, it may have affected the dressing room, with some players feeling less important. Ronaldo did well, finishing as the top scorer with 24 goals, but I was out of the job 10 weeks later."
Ronaldo's return to Manchester United in 2021 sparked significant excitement, but the team struggled to maintain consistency under Solskjaer, eventually leading to his departure. Haaland, meanwhile, has taken the Premier League by storm at Manchester City, scoring a record-breaking 36 goals in his debut season.
