Argentina captain Lionel Messi has admitted that he is nearing the end of his professional football career.
Messi, the most decorated player in football history, is currently playing for Inter Miami. At 37 years old, he is in the latter stages of his career. Speaking to Marca on Thursday, Messi, who has won 45 trophies so far, reaffirmed his deep ties to Argentina and Barcelona.
"The end is near, and I’m enjoying and valuing every moment as much as possible,"
Messi said.
"Argentina and Barcelona are my home. Today, I am also in a place where I feel very happy, a new stage in my life."
Messi, who has previously played for Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, recently won both the FIFA World Cup and the Copa America. He has also claimed eight Ballon d'Or awards during his career.
