Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp criticized Manchester City following their 2-1 Premier League defeat to Brighton on Saturday, calling it one of the worst performances he has seen from a Pep Guardiola team.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp expressed his disappointment with City’s second-half display, pointing out their lack of defensive discipline, inability to win individual battles, and hesitance to move the ball forward. He remarked,

“That is one of the worst halves of football I have seen from a Pep Guardiola side. They were abject; they didn’t defend, didn’t win individual battles, and didn’t pass the ball forward at times.”

Although City showed promise in the first half, Redknapp observed how Brighton took control in the second half after manager Benjamin Hurzeler’s substitutions. Goals from Joao Pedro and Matt O’Riley clinched the win for Brighton, leaving City with much to reflect on following an uncharacteristic loss.
