The sustained criticism of Erik ten Hag has reached the inner sanctum of Manchester United’s players as well, says defender Jonny Evans. Interestingly, regardless of the factors that might add pressure such as the rumour-mongering, Evans is still able to concentrate on producing the right results on the field.

The 35-year-old believes that regardless of the other factors that come into play, he has one aim at the end of the day; to give it his all on the pitch. This, however, was not the best game for the hitherto rejected players’ union who berated Everton’s form due to the players’ mentality quite hysterically against Aston Villa last Sunday in the English Premier League.

Speaking of the emotions that the sacking or potential sacking of the coach generally brings to the players, Evans then said:

“ It was very important to give a response on the attitude of the team. Everybody put their best efforts and that is something we can be happy about.”

On monitoring the current saga about Ten Hag, Evans said:

“Yes, it does affect the players. It is on our heads too. But yes personally with the experience I have gained over the years, I tend to try and focus on being ready and competing for the team.’
