Yoane Wissa's crucial late goal powered Brentford to a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, overcoming early controversy and securing three vital Premier League points. Wissa’s decisive strike came after Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze saw his opening goal controversially disallowed, marking a pivotal moment in the match.

Eze appeared to have put Palace ahead with a quick-thinking free-kick that caught Brentford’s goalkeeper, Mark Flekken, off-guard. However, referee Sam Barrott blew for a foul by Will Hughes just before the ball crossed the line, rendering VAR unable to intervene. The decision, which left Palace fuming, was further questioned when replays suggested that Hughes may have been the one fouled.

Despite this setback, Brentford seized the momentum, with Bryan Mbeumo putting the Bees ahead in the first half after curling a brilliant shot past Palace's Dean Henderson. Though Palace managed to equalize early in the second half thanks to an own goal by Brentford’s Ethan Pinnock, their hopes of a comeback were thwarted when Odsonne Edouard’s goal was ruled offside.

With the game finely poised at 1-1, Wissa stepped up in the closing stages. After Nathan Collins’ shot was parried by Henderson, Wissa reacted quickest to tap in the rebound, ensuring Brentford's first win over their London rivals in eight attempts.

Wissa’s performance was a key factor in Brentford’s victory, helping to calm nerves after manager Thomas Frank revealed that star striker Ivan Toney was left out of the squad due to ongoing transfer interest.
