Didier Deschamps tells Kylian Mbappé he is protecting him with absence from France squad
France national team head coach Didier Deschamps has not called up Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe to the national team for the Nations League matches in November, according to the French national team's social media account.
In October, Mbappe missed two Nations League games against Israel (4:1) and Belgium (2:1).
"I discussed it with Kylian and made a decision. It will be better this way," Deschamps said at a press conference.
In November, the French team will play against the teams of Israel (November 14) and Italy (November 17).
In October, Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported that police had launched an investigation into a rape at a hotel in central Stockholm, where Mbappe was staying at the time. No suspects have been named in the case. However, according to media reports, Mbappe's entourage understands that the 25-year-old footballer is involved. Mbappe himself called the rape reports "fake news."
