A Sudanese official has accused Chad of supporting paramilitary groups fighting the Sudanese army and urged the government to take strong action. Minerals Minister Mohamed Bashir Abunommo said Chad is allowing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to use its land to get military supplies from the UAE. He called for a meeting of key ministers to respond to what he called growing Chadian aggression.

Abunommo, part of the Sudan Liberation Movement, criticized Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby for congratulating Sudan’s leadership on National Day while allegedly supporting actions that harm Sudan. He accused Chad of helping smuggle weapons to aid a plan to create a new state for Arab groups, with backing from the UAE.

Sudan’s Ministry of Defence earlier claimed the RSF used drones from the UAE, some launched from Chad, to attack areas in Omdurman. The fighting in Sudan continues to cause destruction and worsen the humanitarian crisis.
