Nigeria's off-the-beaten-path waterfall tourists often miss

Waterfalls are fascinating to me. Bodies of water cascading down from cliffs and traversing fields and rocks have a calming effect on me.

The sound of the water clapping and the image they create are simply amazing. I embarked on a quest to find these websites in Nigeria since I think there are others who share my beliefs. These are a few that I discovered.

1.Owu Waterfalls, Kwara State

The waterfalls are located in the Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, in the sleepy town of Oke Aba. It possesses all the characteristics of an excellent destination. Enigma? You've got it. A special cause to go? Verify.

It is uncertain where the waterfalls came from. That, in my opinion, lends the location a certain air of mystique. The height is the most intriguing feature. It is the highest waterfall in West Africa, rising 120 meters above sea level. That's your special reason to go there.

3. Awhum Waterfalls, Enugu State

The Awhum Waterfall is located in Awhum Town, Enugu State's Udi Local Government Area. Although everyone is welcome to visit, the 30-meter-tall waterfalls have become a popular Christian pilgrimage site due to their proximity to Awhum Monastery.

According to certain sources, the water may repel evil energies and has therapeutic properties. You can use this information however you like.

4.Erin-Ijesha Waterfalls, Osun State

The history of the Erin-Ijesha waterfalls is told in three different ways. According to one account, one of Oduduwa's daughters found the waterfalls around 1140 AD. It was found by hunters in another state. According to the third source, Akinla, the granddaughter of Oduduwa, the founder of Erin-Ijesha town, made the discovery. You are free to select the one that most interests you.

Even though Erin-Ijesha has seven levels, that isn't its most intriguing feature. You will have traveled from Osun State to Ekiti State if you begin at level one and finish at level seven.

5.Gurara Waterfalls, Niger State

This one requires you to go to Niger State. Beginning from the Gurara River, the waterfall travels through rocks before reaching the 20-meter-high cliff where it plunges to form a pond.

6.Matsirga Waterfalls, Kaduna State

The Matsirga waterfalls are located in the tiny village of Madakiya, just over 200 kilometers south of Kaduna. The falls originate from a hill's springs and cascade down a cliff through four hollows, creating a sizable pool at the cliff's base.

7. Kwa Waterfalls, Cross River State

Kwa Waterfalls is a stunning natural attraction located in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. Nestled within the dense tropical rainforest of the Cross River National Park, the waterfalls cascade down 25 meters of black volcanic rock, creating a breathtaking scene.

Visitors can enjoy the serene environment, lush greenery, and refreshing pools at the base of the falls, which are perfect for relaxation.

The site is also culturally significant, as the local communities consider the waterfalls sacred. Its proximity to other attractions in Cross River State, such as the Tinapa Resort and the city of Calabar, makes it a popular destination for eco-tourism and adventure seekers. The area is ideal for hiking, picnics, and photography, offering a tranquil escape into nature
