The largest nation in Africa, Nigeria boasts a diversified culture and abundant natural resources. Even though Nigeria's tourism sector is still in its infancy, there are plenty of destinations worth seeing, whether it is for the scenery, history, art, or cuisine.

With over 900 different species of birds, Nigeria is a birdwatcher's heaven. In some of Nigeria's national parks and nature reserves, such as Yosha National Park and Cross River National Park, you can see rare and stunning birds like the Grey Crowned Crane and White-eye.



Desert Adventure

The huge Sahara Desert in northern Nigeria is a location full of enjoyment and challenges. In some Nigerian desert cities and oasis, such Sokoto and Katsina, you can experience some of the desert culture and customs, like riding camels and camping. In some of Nigeria's desert wonders and attractions, such the Kano Pyramids and Kano Desert National Park, you can also discover some desert mysteries and charms, like desert foxes and desert roses.

Due to its abundance of water resources, the southern region of Nigeria is an ideal location for water sports. Some Nigerian beaches and islands, like Lekki Beach and Calabar Island in Lagos, offer water sports and entertainment like diving and surfing. Other Nigerian rivers and lakes, like the Niger River and Lake Chad, offer water sports and explorations like boating and fishing.

Nigeria offers a vast array of products and services, making it a shopping haven. Some Nigerian shopping malls and supermarkets, like Silverbird Plaza in Abuja and Ikeja Mall in Lagos, sell international brands and goods like apparel and electronics. Other Nigerian markets and streets, like Kurimi Market in Kano and Baraguni Market in Lagos, sell local specialties and handicrafts, like jewelry and wood carvings.

Nigeria is a creative and artistic haven, a haven for artists. The Nigerian National Museum in Lagos and the Nigerian National Gallery in Abuja are two examples of museums and galleries in Nigeria where you can view historical collections and contemporary pieces like paintings and sculptures.
