Zuma Appoints Joe Ndhlela, a Convicted Fraudster as MK Party National Organiser

Jacob Zuma appoints convicted fraudster Joe Ndhlela as MK Party national organiser, sparking controversy over his criminal past and shifting political ties.

Jacob Zuma Names Joe Ndhlela as MK Party Organiser Amid Leadership Reshuffle

Jacob Zuma has appointed Joe Ndhlela, a convicted fraudster, as the MK Party's national organiser. Ndhlela takes over from Floyd Shivambu, a former EFF deputy president, who is now the party's secretary-general.

The MK Party confirmed Zuma's decision, made in consultation with its national high command. According to the party, Ndhlela joined the MK Party in December 2023 as a volunteer and played a key role in preparing the party for the 2024 elections. He helped collect member signatures, develop the National Elections Strategic Framework, and train party agents. Since April 2024, he has been serving as the chief operations officer.

The MK Party stated, "Commander Joe Ndhlela will assume the roles and responsibilities of the National Organiser as prescribed by the Constitution of the MK Party. The Party wishes Commander Ndhlela well as he picks up the spear and assumes this important role."

Ndhlela has a criminal record from his time at Transnet. In 2022, he was convicted of fraud and violating the Companies Act, leading to a three-year prison sentence. These crimes were committed between 1993 and 1997 and resulted in his departure from the PSL, where he was chief executive.

Ndhlela has a history of switching political allegiances. He resigned from the ANC after 40 years and joined the Patriotic Alliance (PA). However, in 2023, he left the PA, accusing its leader, Gayton McKenzie, of favoring a select group.

Interestingly, Ndhlela's son, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, serves as the spokesperson for the MK Party.
