At the African Union City in Kinshasa, President Félix Tshisekedi gave a strong speech on Saturday to national deputies, senators, and some leaders of the Sacred Union of the Nation Groups. As the leader of this group, Tshisekedi asked his supporters to focus on the country's needs.
"We are responsible for leading this country. Congo will only be saved by its own people. No one else will care for it more than we do. Without your support, we cannot achieve our goals for the people. We need a new way of thinking and a fresh approach because transforming this country is possible," he said.
President Tshisekedi also spoke about the ongoing security issues in the east of the country. He said the DRC is making progress with the Luanda process. He made it clear that Kinshasa rejects any direct talks with the M23 group, calling them terrorists.
"We must do everything to stop the aggression. I will take the necessary steps to regain the areas we have lost. If we cannot achieve this through talks led by Angola, we will have to take them back by force," Tshisekedi stated.
