The M23 terrorist group supported by Rwanda faced strong resistance from the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) in North Kivu, according to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs. This was discussed during the Twenty-second Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Friday, November 15.

Thanks to the efforts of the FARDC, several towns previously held by the enemy have been recaptured, with the army now controlling the western part of Peti, including its bridge over the Luhulu River. The minutes of the meeting state, "During the week that is ending, acts of provocation by the Rwandan army and its M23 terrorist auxiliaries were reported in some areas.

They were met with fierce resistance by the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who, on the occasion, recaptured and still control the west of the locality of Peti and its bridge over the Luhulu River in the province of North Kivu.

Additionally, an incursion by CODECO militiamen in Dzango and Lumia in Ituri province was thwarted by the FARDC, while operations to track down ADF/MTM terrorists continue in the Lubero territory of North Kivu.

The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the armed forces' commitment to restoring peace and addressing any security threats across all defense zones. Despite these advances, the report highlights that the security situation in the eastern part of the country remains volatile.
