Two men allegedly involved in the murder of Cape Town businessman Mark Lifman made a brief appearance in the George Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Johannes Hendrik Jacobs and Gert Johannes Bezuidenhout are charged with premeditated murder.
With a strong police presence in place, the court postponed the case to next Wednesday to allow further investigation.
Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile confirmed that one of the accused is a former member of the police’s special task force.
"But he's been away from the police for some time and what we believe is that he's worked for PPA Security in Cape Town, that's what we know for now," said Patekile.
The court denied the accused's request for solitary confinement.
Patekile added that additional arrests could not be ruled out as the investigation progresses.
