Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa made his first public appearance after his release, joining Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at a service of songs held for Mrs. Victoria Ossai Obielum, the late mother of prominent politician Godwill Obielum.
Okowa, who was arrested on November 4, 2024, over an alleged N1.3 trillion fraud, regained his freedom on November 8, though his passport was seized.
The event, held on Wednesday at Obielum’s residence in Asaba, Delta State, saw a large turnout, including Delta State PDP Chairman Solomon Arenyenka, members of the party’s state executive committee, political leaders, and both serving and retired top security officers.
During the service, Pastor Ifeanyi Ogude of Heaven Bound Christian International Church Ministry delivered a sermon emphasizing the importance of living a meaningful life dedicated to God and humanity.
He stated, “Nobody knows when death will come, and as such, people should be prepared by living a good life and leaving worthy legacies behind, as they will be remembered for what they did.”
Mrs. Obielum, who passed away on June 20, 2024, at the age of 87, will be laid to rest on November 16, 2024, at the family residence in Ushie, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State
