On Monday, September 23, 2024, Director Balume Hangi of Mweso community radio reported that their equipment, including a transmitter, a mixer, computers, microphones, and dictaphones, was looted. Stored securely in the premises of the Mweso referral hospital, the equipment was taken as he evacuated to Goma amidst an advancing M23 terrorist threat. The act, involving collaboration with the Rwandan army, has been widely condemned by local civil society and residents.

"We ask our government to take security measures in the areas threatened by these terrorists in order to restore peace," they declared.
