Monaco's midfielder, Mohamed Camara, has been suspended for four matches after he covered anti-homophobia messages on his shirt. The incident occurred during Monaco's 4-0 victory over Nantes in Ligue 1 on May 19.

In a statement, the LFP explained that the ban was imposed after hearing from Camara and noting his refusal "to carry out one or more actions to raise awareness of the fight against homophobia."

France's sports minister, Amelie Oudea-Castera, had previously called for "the strongest sanctions" against Camara during an interview with RTL.

On the final day of the season, all Ligue 1 clubs featured the campaign logo on their kits, and the competition's emblem on team shirts displayed rainbow colours as part of the LFP's initiative. Camara also covered up the rainbow emblem.

The Malian Football Federation supported Camara, asserting that "players are citizens like any others, whose fundamental rights must be protected in all circumstances."

Monaco's chief executive, Thiago Scuro, stated that the club supports the LFP's campaign and will address the matter with Camara internally.
