AS Roma defender Evan Ndicka is currently recuperating in the hospital following a distressing incident during Sunday’s Serie A match against Udinese, which led to the abandonment of the game. The match at Bluenergy Stadium was halted at the 72nd minute, with the scoreline at 1-1, after Ndicka, the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international, collapsed unexpectedly off the ball.
Medical teams quickly attended to Ndicka on the pitch, and he was subsequently stretchered off for further medical attention. Roma later provided an update, confirming that Ndicka was feeling better and in good spirits. According to a statement posted on Roma's official X account, the team visited Ndicka in the hospital, where he will continue to be monitored.
"The squad went to visit Ndicka at the hospital. Evan is feeling better and is in good spirits. He will remain in the hospital for further observations. Forza Evan!" the statement read.
The match's intense moments saw Roberto Pereyra scoring for Udinese before the break, with Romelu Lukaku equalizing for Roma at the 64-minute mark. However, the game did not resume following Ndicka’s medical emergency, prioritizing the player’s health and safety.
