Bafana Bafana celebrate as they advanced to the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations

Players and officials of Bafana Bafana of South Africa faced an unexpected delay as they spent the night in Port Harcourt, unable to travel to Uyo for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.


The team arrived in Port Harcourt from Johannesburg on Wednesday night but missed their scheduled flight to Uyo because the airport had closed by the time they were set to depart.


Hugo Broos’ side is now expected to travel to Uyo on Thursday morning. Upon arrival, the team will have an opportunity to practice at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium later in the evening.

The highly anticipated match is scheduled to kick off at 8 pm on Friday.
