In a significant development within Cameroon's football scene, the Cameroonian Football Federation (CFF) has identified 52 players, including a notable member from the country's African Cup of Nations squad, with discrepancies in their registration, leading to potential exclusions from the nation's premier championship playoffs.
Among those implicated is Wilfried Nathan Douala, a talent from Victoria United FC, who, along with others, is accused of age falsification under the guise of a "double identity," as reported by French broadcaster RMC and various Cameroonian news outlets.
The revelation came to light following the federation's announcement of the team rosters for the upcoming qualifiers, scheduled to start this Friday. In an unprecedented move, the CFF highlighted the names of the implicated players in red to denote their "double identity" status. Remarkably, Yong Sports Academy stands out, with 13 of its players flagged for potential suspension due to dual identity issues.
This crackdown on age and identity fraud signifies the CFF's commitment to integrity and fair play in Cameroon's football league, as the nation prepares for the highly anticipated national championship qualifiers.
