MP Wamumbi Calls for Investigation into Alleged Meetings at Gachagua's Hotel

Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to look into suspicious activities at Olive Gardens Hotel in Nairobi. This hotel is linked to Rigathi Gachagua, a former deputy president who has become critical of the government after losing his position last year.

In a letter to DCI Director Mohamed Amin, Wamumbi raised concerns about meetings at the hotel, suggesting they could be connected to the ongoing issue of abductions in the country. He claimed that some meetings involved youths pretending to be abducted under Gachagua's direction. Wamumbi urged the DCI to act and rescue any individuals allegedly being held there.

The MP suggested that the hotel might be used to stage fake abductions to stir public unrest. He called for a thorough investigation to prevent unnecessary panic and maintain public trust.

Wamumbi sympathized with parents facing the distress of missing children but warned against groups spreading false information to create conflict. He also criticized Gachagua for his remarks about Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, calling him a professional officer working to uphold law and order.

Public concerns about abductions, especially involving youth critical of the government, have been rising. Earlier this week, the National Police Service (NPS) announced that some reported missing persons had been found and reunited with their families. These included individuals reported missing in various police stations, and one person voluntarily came forward to assist investigators with more information.
