Vital Kamerhe's suggested dialogue with M23: creates unrest between UNC and UDPS

Billy Kambale condemns UDPS attacks on Vital Kamerhe over M23 dialogue, warns against further insults, and demands control over party members.

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, Media Congo Press (MCP) received a statement revealing that Billy Kambale, the Secretary-General of the Union for the Congolese Nation (UNC), sent a letter expressing "indignation" and issuing a "warning" to the leaders of the UDPS.

This was in response to insults directed at Vital Kamerhe, the President of the National Assembly, following his statement about engaging in dialogue with M23 rebels.

Billy Kambale stated in his letter that his party strongly condemns the attacks and threats made by UDPS members against their national president.

He pointed out that these offensive remarks, filled with slander, contempt, and irresponsibility, have been continuously spread through the media and social networks. He further implied that this behavior appears to be not just spontaneous but also a well-organized and structured campaign.

The UNC emphasized that the President of the country is the one concerned with safeguarding territorial integrity and restoring peace. The head of state has also engaged the National Assembly, seeking the input of national representatives on political and diplomatic strategies to counter external aggression and occupation by Rwanda.

With a firm stance, the UNC called on UDPS leaders to control their members, making it clear that they will no longer tolerate the defamation of Vital Kamerhe. The party warned that it would respond to any further attacks against their leader.
