Yampano a Rwandan singer

Yampano is a Rwandan singer whose music places Kinyarwanda storytelling inside Afrobeat, R&B and contemporary East African pop. Born Florien Uworizagwira in Nyamasheke District, he entered professional music in 2021 and built his name through songs including “Sibyanjye,” “Ngo,” “Inzobe” and “Igikwiye.”

His wider public turning point came at The Ben’s New Year concert at BK Arena in January 2025, but the more revealing story lies in what followed: a stronger interest in cultural sound, carefully chosen collaborations and the Inkanda Vibe EP.

Who is Yampano? Yampano, born Florien Uworizagwira, is a Rwandan Afrobeat and R&B singer from Nyamasheke. Active since 2021, he became more widely recognised after performing at BK Arena in 2025 and has developed a catalogue centred on Kinyarwanda lyrics, personal reflection and modern African rhythms.

The Songs Keep Returning to Identity

Yampano’s strongest artistic thread is not a single production style. It is the way his songs return to questions of character, love, faith and how a person remains grounded when public attention grows. On his Apple Music artist page, he chose “Uwomuntu” when asked to identify one of his own meaningful songs. His explanation was short:

“Uwomuntu helps me to remember who I am.”

That statement offers a useful route into his work. The polished percussion and melodic hooks make his music easy to place within Afrobeat and Afro-R&B, but the writing remains anchored in Kinyarwanda expression. The live Yampano songs page on XTRAfrica currently brings together records such as “Inzobe” and “Igikwiye,” two songs that present emotion through a distinctly Rwandan lyrical voice.

This balance became more deliberate as his catalogue expanded. Instead of treating local language and international production as opposites, Yampano has worked to make them part of the same musical identity.

Formative Life: A Church Guitar in Nyamasheke

Florien Uworizagwira comes from Nyamasheke District in Rwanda’s Western Province. A 2025 profile and interview published by Jarida Africa describes a religious household in which his father played guitar at church while his mother and siblings sang in the choir. Yampano was not a choir member, but hearing his father play gave him an early model of music as something performed, shared and connected to daily life.
